« Create a game for children to learn more about the cathedral medieval bestiary, » asked us the Strasbourg Cathedral Museum. Our team of six artists decided to exploit the numerous chimera sculptures in the museum bestiary room. We hid informations about sirens, sphynx, horses, griffins, sheeps and dragons everywhere to be hunt by the children, and produced a related set of cubes for them to build chimera with colorful animal heads, wings, legs and tails. They also got exhaustive chimera id cards to fill according to the creatures they built, along with minicubes to cut and fold at home.
The first cubes were made of cardboard, and tested by a primary school kids class. They liked the game so much that we decided to create a permanent version of it in the museum; this time with screen-printed solid wood :
